This weekend my friends and I will all be going to a rap concert that is going to be held at the city arena. We really have nothing to wear so this friday after school we have all decided to go shopping for some gear. I really do not now if I am going to buy any clothes because my mothers birthday is coming up soon and I was hoping to get her two mother’s rings. She has been a really great mother all these years and I feel that this is a special occasion in which to thank her for everything that she has done for me. Maybe instead of buying some clothes I could just borrow some from one of my friends.

This summer my sister is hoping to get a summer job a an ice cream shop, so that she can pay off her student loans. I told her that she could just come and work for me inspecting personalized bracelets at a jewelry store that I own, but she says that she really does not want to work for me because she feels I would take advantage of the fact that she is my sister and make her work more. I guess I am just going to have to offer her more money because I would feel a lot better if she was working for me instead of someone else, but I guess I have to wait and see what decision she makes.

When taking a trip by car, you used to have to print out lengthy sets of directions from an online site, or rely solely on your intuition and an atlas. Things have changed, however, and now you can get gps car navigation systems in your vehicle that will guide you just about anywhere you want to go. Some new models of cars and trucks automatically come with this feature, and others can be bought separately.

I kept my eyes on the auto navigation system the entire time we were on the road. My friend eagerly explained how the thing worked. Apparently, he had purchased a top-of-the-line GPS auto navigation system that tracked the car’s position via satellite. I watched the map closely, and sure enough, it was as accurate as could be. I mean, we would pass a landmark out on the side of the road while the on-screen map was showing the exact same thing! I next asked my friend how easy it was to find new locations using these auto navigation systems. He said all he had to do was type in an address or phone number using the touch-screen menu, and the shortest route would appear within seconds. I decided there and then that I had to check out some auto navigation systems for my own car.

Another feature to keep in mind when comparing GPS devices is the precision of the directions they offer. Roads change all the time, new roads are built, and construction is a huge issue. You want a system that will keep up with changes on a regular basis, and can do so with little work on your part. Updates may come regularly, or you may have to request one before you start your trip. You can find car navigation systems online, and at specialty stores. Shop around for the best price and ask a lot of questions before you buy. Find out if there is a monthly or yearly fee for service, and what extras a particular model may offer you. Find out if the directions are easy to access, if the model offers voice directions, or if you have to read the screen. If the screen is too bright, or if it is affected by sunlight, you aren’t going to find it easy to use in most cases.

Good auto navigation systems are like mapquest. Ninety percent of the time GPS devices are accurate, but they won’t always give you the best way to get somewhere or provide you with up-to-the-minute information about road detours and other changes along the route. I imagine the technology in auto navigation systems will only continue to improve, and the next generation may be able to sense when you’re about to screw up and make a mistake and will help you try to avoid it. In order to compile long lists of songs and capture moments of time blank cassette tapes have been used for a number of years. This can be viewed as an art form of sorts. They are given to people to express their affections or to pass on as music to their friends. This legacy will continue in other circles wherein the tapes are passed from friend to friend as music tastes continue.

I would listen to the radio for hours to hear my favorite song. This was back in the days before mp3’s. I would capture those moments on blank cassette tapes, if I was really lucky. However, those tapes weren’t perfect and there were a lot of hits and misses; I would often record the DJ’s small talk and commercials while trying to create the perfect mix tape.

The external artistic presentation is as important as the music contained in the audiocassettes for successful marketing of the cassettes. People show their artistic abilities in designing even the blank cassette labels. These are artistically decorated with markers and stickers. Such decorations are an art form itself. People also give creative names for this and decorate it suitably to gift it.

New recording technology has evolved over time. Now instead of blank cassette tapes, we have DVDs and CDs. A system of digital audio tape is now available that provides greatly improved recording quality. With the advent of mp3s, it’s even easier to record your own mixes. You can find almost any song on the Internet and download it onto a CD. Once you’re finished, you can design and print your personal CD label.

Many of us still hold that no later invention has improved upon the old blank cassette tapes. There are now online groups where people discuss, buy, sell, and trade cassette mixes. The goal is to increase one’s knowledge of the music of yesterday and today, and it’s a great deal of fun besides. Exposure to different music from different places and times is such a wonderful feeling.

The blank cassette tape will always be remembered for the mark it made on our society, no matter what technological advances the future holds. The mix tape showcased our creativity and transformed all of us into music mixers. The MP3 and blank CD have allowed us to carry this tradition into the present day. Even still, the mix tape will always be a classic.
